Isabella Hsiao, August 14th 2020

Stress is an inevitable part of our everyday life.

We can encourage you to avoid dairy, meat, toxic relationships, alcohol, tobacco, etc… but we aren’t telling you to avoid stress. Everybody faces stress in some quantity in their lives. That we can’t control. But what we can control is how we cope with that stress.

If you can, try to avoid unnecessary stress. But for the stressors and situations that are out of your control and can’t be avoided, try to accept things as they are and know that any amount of worrying you do won’t change the outcome. Worrying about things you can’t change or control is misuses your focus and energy, and we can all use that energy for better!

“If it is important and controllable – take action… If it is important and uncontrollable – accept and utilize positive coping mechanisms/behaviors.”

Negative stress can have many adverse physical, psychological, and intellectual effects on our health. It can cause decreased energy, headaches, low self-esteem, weight gain, inability to focus, poor judgement and son.  Dealing with unmanaged stress can hinder your ability to function effectively and think clearly; therefore, developing healthy coping mechanisms is important to ensure you’re not letting stress get in the way of your productivity, happiness, and health.

A few recommendations to healthfully manage stress:
